Meet our volunteers: Brother Taf

Our first volunteer to be interviewed is something of a Bosco legend...

What's your name?

Taf

How long have you been volunteering?

26 years.

What's your day job?

I work in a secondary school as a pastoral intervention leader.

Why do you volunteer?

I like to continue to learn from others and, if possible, inspire the next generation of young people through a Catholic ethos.

What do you do at Bosco?

Everything! I was previously camp leader for many years, and now I help to recruit volunteers.

What do you enjoy most about Bosco?

Watching former boys come back as brothers to give back to the camp. Some even become camp leaders!

Any particularly special memories?

Performing for the boys as part of the Magnificent Seven.

Why would you encourage someone to volunteer?

It’s a brilliant opportunity to develop your skills, to grow in confidence and to learn from others through a wide range of experiences.

Favourite Bosco meal?

Sunday roast.

Custard or cream?

Custard!

Crumble or bread and butter?

Always crumble, as long as it’s two thirds crumble, one third fruit.

Tea or squash?

Squash.

Three words to describe Bosco?

Lifechanging, inspiring, quality.
